Hear from our customers
Please Understand: some of our customers walk a tense journey as they endeavor to protect relationships between numerous strategic vendors. Adopting rFuel, which provides technical abstraction and information liberation, can raise concerns amongst their vendors and staff. We are respectful of these concerns and deeply appreciative of the trust our customers have placed in us. More so, we are energised by their commitment to advancing the capabilities of their businesses by confronting technical blockers to collaboratively craft robust solutions and "change". Together, we achieve great outcomes.

We decided to make a strategic shift, not only in technology but more so in culture. Historically, we built everything ourselves as there were no products to outsource our technical debt. We are a Bank and not a technology company. Our backlog of business related projects was not getting smaller and we had no realistic way of modernising for efficiency. We were faced with the options to either; find new technology or replace the entire core banking platform, the costs of which were significant.
We looked for the right product and found many which could "do the job" but left the technical debt with us. We found UniLibre and put their product (rFuel) through 3 years of extensive trials. At the time, rFuel was new and unproven but it's capabilities balanced the risk of engaging a start-up with a new product. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, we engaged with Redhat for JBoss and UniLibre for rFuel and we had the platform on which we could launch our next generation core banking system – and so we began our modernisation journey.
Initially, the journey was exciting with our staff learning to work in Agile teams using the JBoss suite and rFuel. Our teams are used to doing things a certain way and wanted rFuel to reflect this but it was not what rFuel was designed for. By working with UniLibre through these differences, we have seen great improvements in capability, maturity and insights. Now, our development teams are very happy to work with rFuel and they deliver great results in a contemporary, streamlined and well governed SDLC.
As we close out our second year of using rFuel in our production core banking system, I can truly say that working with UniLibre has been rewarding and productive. Today, we are delivering software capabilities at speed which benefits our business immediately. Importantly, we no longer carry the technical debt of developing a database adapter. rFuel has provided us with the technical abstraction and functional capabilities we needed to achieve our strategic goals.
We thank UniLibre for working with us through the periods of growth and change, and for helping us to arrive at a mutually prosperous outcome.

One of the challenges we have faced in using a UniVerse database is accessing the complex multi-valued data for operational reporting and strategic decision making. Over the years we’ve tried various approaches, with mixed results. Then in 2014 we found UniLibre and got to see an early release of rFuel which has since evolved into a serious option for anyone wanting to take ownership of their UniVerse data.
As a bank, we take security and platform stability very seriously and over time our trust and confidence in UniLibre’s software has grown to the point where we have no hesitation in recommending them to others. The low-level code and corresponding low-level impact of software designed by people with detailed and intimate knowledge of how UniVerse operates, enables it to run with minimal overhead and consequently only minimal infrastructure is required. We have proven this night after night for year upon year, pulling growing volumes of data from production systems and feeding our data warehouse which in turn is used to support powerful, customised business reporting and analytics.
We also align culturally and ethically with UniLibre as an organisation. They have always been open and supportive of our product suggestions, enhancements and also willingly engage in conversations of a technical and strategic nature. If they believe they can help, they will. Their desire to build customer communities, where everyone benefits from shared learnings and data assets is admirable and also highly cost-effective for those who are willing to participate.
